Hypnosis

Coaching gives us more clarity, a shift in perspective, changes in behaviour, and helps uncover blockages.

But when blockages, patterns of behaviour, or limiting beliefs sit deeper, coaching alone sometimes isn’t enough to move forward. A large part of what drives us happens unconsciously – something reflected in research on unconscious information processing (Andrea Kiesel, Professor of General Psychology, University of Freiburg: Spektrum der Wissenschaft).

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis isn’t sleep, and it isn’t magic. It’s a state of focused attention and deep relaxation, in which your brain often processes information differently than it does in the busyness of everyday life. This makes it easier to open up new perspectives and set helpful change in motion.

Research shows that hypnosis is linked to measurable changes in brain activity. Imaging studies indicate that it involves, among others, brain regions associated with attention, perception, and the processing of sensations such as pain. (National Library of Medicine)

How hypnosis works

Our conscious mind is only a small part of what steers us. To create lasting change, we need to reach the root of your blockage or belief – to where it’s actually stored: the subconscious. That’s where the messages and imprints we absorbed unfiltered, especially in our early years, are held, and they can still shape us today. Real change happens in the subconscious – hypnosis opens the door to it.

How a session works

During a hypnosis session, you stay awake, present, and clear. You remain aware of everything going on around you. It’s only your analytical mind that takes a step back, which is precisely what opens up access to your subconscious. That’s where we can work directly on whatever is holding you back.

Online and in person

I offer hypnosis sessions both online and in person at my practice in Wehrheim. Both work well – what matters most is that you have a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.

Suggestive or clinical hypnosis

Suggestive, or clinical, hypnosis is an effective method for rewriting patterns of thought, belief, or behaviour. It takes blockages, emotional resistance, and underlying needs into account, it doesn’t involve digging into root causes. We work out the suggestions together – they need to feel right for you – and during the session itself, I read them back to you exactly as agreed, without changing a word.

What can hypnosis help with?

Hypnosis can help with anxiety, phobias, and psychosomatic complaints, as well as relaxation and strengthening your inner resources. It helps you find your way back to yourself and draw on those resources.

Good to know

Hypnosis is a powerful tool for personal development, but it isn’t a substitute for psychotherapy or medical treatment. If you’re going through an acute psychological crisis, trauma, or a serious psychiatric condition, hypnosis isn’t the right approach – that’s a job for a specialist or therapist. If you’re unsure whether hypnosis is right for you, just get in touch – we can work out together what’s the best path forward.

Frequently asked questions about hypnosis

Can I get “stuck” during hypnosis?
No. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation that you already know from everyday life – for instance, when listening to music or just before falling asleep. You can come out of it by yourself at any time. And I’m right there with you throughout.

Do I need to believe in hypnosis for it to work?
No. Openness and curiosity are all it takes. You don’t need to believe anything or force anything – hypnosis works through relaxation and focus, not willpower.

Will I reveal things during hypnosis that I don’t want to share?
No. You’re awake, clear, and in control throughout the entire session. You won’t say or do anything you wouldn’t also say or do while fully conscious.

How many sessions will I need?
That’s individual and depends on what you’d like to work on. We’ll discuss this together during our initial conversation.

Can anyone be hypnotised?
In principle, yes. The capacity for trance varies from person to person, but almost everyone can learn to access and use it.
