My way of coaching
I strongly believe that people are the experts of their own life. Consequently, in my coaching sessions I help my clients elicit solutions and strategies from within themselves. This means that I don’t give them advice; instead I ask their permission to share with them what I hear, feel or see.
So, if you are considering coaching, how do we get there?
I believe in listening. That helps me develop a feeling for you. I will help you clarify your values, strengths and goals so that you can make deliberate choices. I will also help you find out about your beliefs that might block you and hold you back from achieving your goal. I will do so by asking you questions, listening and reflecting back – helping you gain awareness.
This means that I will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and into action. Together we will find ways for you to practice the things you will discover in our coaching sessions, customized to your particular way of learning. I will provide a safe space for your journey of discovery and growth. On this journey I will be your partner who helps you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you
wish to be – personally and professionally. It is a relationship of equality between you, as a client, and me, as your coach.
I see my role as a coach to support you on your way towards
empowerment, self-confidence, discovery and growth.

What coaching is not:
Coaching is not therapy, counselling or mentoring. Coaching is focused on your strengths not your weaknesses. It is about the future not the past; we might have to work on past issues but the focus is clearly on the future. If I feel that we’ve come to a point where the help of other professionals would be beneficial to you, I will discuss this with you and make recommendations. This ensures that I do not go beyond my professional competence.
