Bettina Bonkas
Bettina BonkasHi,
My name is Bettina Bonkas.
I’m passionate about being an English & Resilience Practitioner and Coach, a personal development guide, a potential enabler, a storyteller – and I also have a profiling qualification. People fascinate me. 🙂
I love English and England too. Yes, the British expect English in business, but not perfection. What matters more is your personality and a good sense of humour – which I find very refreshing.
I also associate pragmatism, tolerance, and creativity with England. What’s the use of flawless English if your conversation partner has stopped listening because the discussion has become too long-winded?
Perfectionism kills creativity, so it’s about moving away from perfectionism and embracing making mistakes – with a “Nobody’s perfect” and “Yes, I can!” mindset.
Mindset & Resilience
Your inner attitude really matters – even if your personal story has been bumpy. We can’t completely change our story, but we can actively shape how it continues.
And that brings us to resilience: whether I master something or not depends a lot on my self-confidence – in other words, my trust in my own abilities.
My own story has been bumpy too. I can’t rewrite it, but I can consciously continue it – and this time, I get to decide what it contains.
What this means for English
Our wish for more confidence – for example, when speaking English – isn’t always just a matter of training, important as that is. It’s also about our inner attitude.
What led me to Coaching
I was confronted with challenges very early on that shaped me: rejection, exclusion, depression in my family, and high performance pressure.
Later, I experienced workplace harassment– an event that hit me fully, albeit not immediately, but the effects became clear some years later. At the time, I didn’t realise I was dealing with a narcissist. Since then, I’ve learned a great deal.
Through this learning process, I began to explore people more deeply – primarily myself. I learned to accept events, view them from a different perspective, and became aware of my possibilities. I found my oown path – which is probably a lifelong journey 🙂 – became self-employed, founded a language school, and discovered coaching.
Learning never stops. And my interest in people doesn’t either 🙂 That’s why I completed a Bachelor’s and trainer qualification in Profiling at the Brain-Shot Academy (Switzerland).
Throughout my professional life, I’ve worked closely with people: first in HR and as a trainer, later also as a coach and resilience trainer.
From these experiences, and from experiencing workplace harassment, grew my desire to support people on their journey. My coaching focuses on helping people lead fulfilling lives, guided by self-efficacy, self-love, clarity, and a “Yes, I can!” mindset.
My qualifications
In addition to life and work experience, I have formal training in personal development.
After studying and spending time abroad, I worked for many years in responsible positions in the HR departments of international companies.
Since 1994, I’ve been training English and Business English alongside colleagues. Our training is tailored to different learning styles: Englisch training. As a trained suggestopaedist (VHS Wiesbaden), I use methods that engage different learning types, remove barriers, and foster natural learning – a holistic approach that helps people unlock their potential and enjoy the process.
The way we take in and process information continues throughout life – including in personal matters. I see this not only in training, but also in coaching.
I’m an accredited coach, trained at the International Coach Academy (Australia), and a Resilience Practitioner, qualified at the Resilience Forum in Berlin. The training was conducted in both German and English.
High Sensitivity as a Working Tool
Another quality that sets me apart is my high sensitivity.
For me, high sensitivity isn’t a label; it’s part of who I am and a valuable working tool. I notice subtle dynamics, unspoken expectations, and stress patterns – and I translate them into clarity, room for action, and sustainable development. Above all, into a life that truly suits you.
